On Sunday (October 20, 2024), VANJ-Kyodai Talk No.7 From Japan to the World took place via Zoom, drawing close to 100 participants. VANJ-NET No.7 was honored to have the presence of four speakers, including:

  • Professor Bùi Hồng Hà – Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia
  • Dr. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Ánh – Economist, International Monetary Fund (IMF), USA
  • Dr. Trương Thị Huyền – Researcher, Leibniz Institute (TROPOS), Germany
  • Ms. Lê Sơn Uyên – Head of Supply Planning, Johnson & Johnson, Belgium

With real-life stories and humorous insights spanning professional expertise to personal life experiences, the speakers offered new perspectives to Vietnamese people living in Japan. After completing studies or work in Japan, what’s next on your journey? This was the question discussed throughout the seminar, garnering great interest from the audience.

With the diverse professional backgrounds of the speakers, the audience could connect with stories relevant to their own fields. Originating from Vietnam, educated and enriched by Eastern values, and stepping into the Western world—is this a daunting transition or a competitive advantage? Recognizing initial challenges as the first step on the development path was a key theme. The speakers and audience also compared differences and similarities across civilizations, passing on this spirit to the younger generation.

VANJ extends heartfelt thanks to the speakers and attendees for creating a gathering of Vietnamese compatriots from around the world, spreading positivity. We look forward to seeing you in upcoming seminars!
